2001 civic in need of new tires for 17x8 wheels?

Hello guys,

****Does anybody have 17x8 wheels and if so what do you guys think...what is biggest size tire I can fit under there I need your help I have a 01 civic. It had stock tires/wheels before and I notice the difference.

As a gift, I received 17x8 Boss wheels with 205/40r17 tires. I believe the offset is 40. I didnt think they would fit but they did! The ride is a bit rough for my taste. Also the setup looks too small.

-I was leaning torwards 205/50r17 for more cush but do they fit. I want comfort. I dont really care if it throws of my speedo.

-I only use my civic for work and dont plan on dropping it or anything else.

-any tips would help...Thanks

You chose 17 there is no real "comfort" in it.

And 17x8 rims are too wide for your desired tire width. A 205 will fit a 17x7 better.

You might as well wider and get 215/45/17 which will give you better "meat" because it won't be stretched by the rims diameter.

I've run 225/45/17 for several years with no problems.

Has any one ran there CIVIC on 17x8 rims with 215/45r17? I have a feeling they are going to rub if I run it with these tire.
