Key FOB

I have a 2001 honda civic lx, with chip key. I want to know does my car come already setup for a key fob or do I have to add a aftermarket one and wire it in?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Key FOB

01 LX did not come from the factory with keyless.
Someone would have had to buy it as an accessory installation.

Find the instructions for installing keyless entry, and see if it is already installed in your car. If it is, then all you should need is some fobs and to program them.

Instructions for an 03 look somewhat similar. http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/AI/AII24178.pdf

Start here http://estore.honda.com/
Pick Honda, then accessories,

In the right side column you should find a link for accessory install instructions. http://estore.honda.com/honda/access...your-honda.asp
That's where that earlier link came from.
Pick the oldest car similar to yours.
