i did one for a member with smoke metalcast paint. turned out really nice and it sprays right over chrome so you still have the shiny look. just keep adding coats until it looks dark enough.

how sturdy is plastidip? will it stand up to chips from rocks and things? I have been considering this as well for my back emblems. and can you find it in the stores, or online only?

Re: Blacked out emblem
ended up taking the CIVIC and LX off well I had no problem with the civic. I had my back and front bumper painted 2 months ago, asked them to leave the LX off, they didnt, anyways they used shitty glue and when I took it off paint came with it. So I had to put the CIVIC emblem where the LX was. Plasti Diping it as we speak lol.

I love the stuff. Only problem now is after I put the CIVIC where the LX was, the paint is screwed up, so every time I paint the CIVIC, it doesn't come off smooth. Guess I will have to put tape over the messed up paint and see how that works.

Some people use fishing line to "sever" the double sided tape holding the stuff on

You don't need to remove the emblem to plasti-dip. Just tape off a square around the emblem, clean the surface, spray on 5-6 coats of plasti-dip, and let it dry for 30 min or so. Then, just unmask everything, grab an edge of the plasti-dip "overspray" and slowly peel it back in one big piece. If you did it right and used enough coats, it will break around the edges of the emblem and reveal a perfect cut. Simple as that.

It pops in and out I forget if tere is a sticky vinyl on it or not but it pops off you can wedge underneath it with a knife or screwdriver and wrap the tip in a paper towel
