Power windows in a dx?

I've got a 2005 coupe dx, and i'm dying to install power windows. Does everything bolt straight in? The wiring too? Can i get the stock power window buttons that fit in the door panel or do I have to make and place my own button or get a different door panel?

Re: Power windows in a dx?

So something like this: http://tinyurl.com/6ns3vxv will fit straight in? Doesn't look like they come with buttons so I'd need something like: http://tinyurl.com/8xynzzm right?

I couldn't find a "universal kit" on ebay.

Looks interesting. I can't tell, but it says it hooks up to the cogs that are already there for the manual roller. Does that mean the crank has to stay on? I was thinking I'd do the red suede doors while I'd have the panels off already, but I want to get rid of the hand crank lol.

Re: Power windows in a dx?

When i had an 04 DX i actually converted it to power windows and it was a hell of a job. I found a donor LX at a junk yard, took all the insides of the doors, door panels, main wiring harness that goes behind the dashboard (that goes to the computer, instrument cluster, HVAC congtrols, and more), also took the computer, instrument cluster (so i had the tach) Keyless FOB control and a few other odds and ends. The whole swap including time spent at the junkyard probably took about 15 hours and cost me about 500$ but i think it was worth it in the end. here are some picts:

Aside from the complications and time it took to remove the parts from the donor car, how did everything hook up to your dx? I'm assuming everything just bolted/clipped right in. I've seen some other power window DIY's require you to drill a few holes. Thanks for the info though. I'll have to figure out which way I want to go now.

Re: Power windows in a dx?

No, the only problem that i had was not realizing that i would need the immobilizer and key from the donor car so i had to make a second trip. It's not gonna be easy to get all those parts unless you buy a complete car or are good friends with the owner of a junkyard, and they let you go into the yard and take the parts yourself.

Re: Power windows in a dx?

Yeah, going to get a whole stock set up looks to be pretty annoying. I'll probably pick up that kit you suggested since they are located near me :3

Re: Power windows in a dx?

Deffinetly don't do stock windows. It's gonna be a pain in the a$$. The aftermarket will be just as good and even if you don't feel like doing it yourself, the kit cost $100 and a professional in my area told me $200 to install. So that's only $300 for everything!

Re: Power windows in a dx?

with that plug and play kit does it allow you to control the passenger window from the driver door or do you have to wire that separately.
