Compatible parts? - different years

How do you know which parts, which year cars are compatible, which parts from cars from other years, are the same as your car?

I have a 2003 Civic LX, 4 door, ES1. I'd like to buy a replacement right rear door and the hood, preferably in Maroon, the same color as my car. A local salvage yard has a 2002 with the door and another has a 2005, 4 door. How do I figure out if the door and the hood, maybe a few other parts, are exactly the same on a 2002, 2003, and 2005 Civic?

thank you,
Kevin

Best bet: Wrecking yards use a Hollander manual to look up interchangeable parts, visit a local junkyard.
Might find one online too, I dunno.

Or use catalogs and compare part numbers

For most things 01-03 are the same, and 04-05 are the same.

Body wise i think the parts that aren't interchangable without an 04/05 swap would be headlights, fenders, bumpers, and hood.

Re: Compatible parts? - different years

I'm new to the "Civic family" so please excuse me if I ask stupid questions lol. I got my Civic on May 3, 2014 and it's a 1999 Honda Civic EX it's a 2 door and it's a coupe I was curious which parts were interchangable with my own. Like are there any other cars that use the same parts or any other years or models of civics compatible. There is a few parts in particular ... The headlights, Skirts and Rear and front fenders... Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will say I dont respond to things very often so I am sorry if i dont respond right away! Feel free to contact me on Skype or Xbox or Facebook.
Thanks much!

Re: Compatible parts? - different years

I need an A/C compressor clutch for my civic 2008 model. Part number required is 38900-RNC-Z51.
I got one for a civic 2006 model part number 38616-RNA-A01.
Will this fit in my 2008 civic?

It looks like #4 is 38900-RNC-Z51 is the compressor clutch for a 2008 LX sedan.

38616-RNA-A01 is the motor cooling fan. #19 in this drawing:

My expert analysis says the two parts are unrelated to one another and both applicable to a 2008 LX sedan.
