Taking out the back seat?

I need to take the back seat out of my 2004 Honda Civic Dx Coupe.

Can anyone tell me how to do it so I dont break anything? I didnt get anything for Christmas so Im going to run the RCAs I bought myself.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Taking out the back seat?

The lower cushion just yanks up at the front edge, and it should be bolted at the rear edge with one 10mm bolt in the area of the seat belt buckles on one side or the other (I think its drivers side) if the bolt is still there, some people throw that one away.

Upper half: side bolsters have one bolt at the bottom then you lift/slide the whole cushion straight up toward the rear window (it will be tight)....do NOT pull out from the bottom or you will break off the plastic hook at the top! You can use a screwdriver to push up on the plastic hook from the trunk where it sticks through the edge of the speaker shelf (according to the directions LOL). If you break off the hook then the bolster will stick out at the top.

Much faster: Lift up the lower cushion on the corner, fold down the upper half, just tuck your wiring under the trim, follow the same route that the trunk release cable does through the rear seat area. I sometimes use a coat hanger to fish wires through tight places too.

Re: Taking out the back seat?

Crutchfield and other sites have good info on installing. Research before you install it all, if you are not sure how to do anything.
