Hey guys quick question, I'm not sure if this is normal my 01 civic coupe EX's door locks are weird I want to know if there broken, I can lock them from inside and when i do it does lock and cant be open from the inside, when I park and lock it from the inside it can be open still i have to lock it with keys for it not to be open, reason being I bought an alarm system and I'm gonna have it installed very soon just wanna make sure the key locks work. Thanks Guys!

Re: Door Locks I know

Sounds like your door lock actuators are bad/going bad. Pretty sure there's a DIY on here somewhere on how to fix it.

Re: Door Locks I know

the lock shouldnt pop back up if you close the door. the issue is locking it with the door open. for that you need to lift the outside handle while pushing the lock down. then it will stay like that when you close the door. this is "safety feature" i guess so you dont lock the door with keys inside.

Re: Door Locks I know

its a Honda feature from the factory to prevent you from locking your keys in the car. My 03's quick start guide mentioned it.

Hold the the inside door handle open, then push down on the lock button. It'll lock all of them.

If you you don't hold the single door handle the locks will just pop back up after you press down then let go of the lock button.
