Rep Power: 0 New member, but longtime lurker...
I've been a lurker on this forum for several years but have decided to join up and share my knowledge on the 7th gen's.
I have a 2002 EM2 Civic LX 5 speed, currently with about 305k miles on it, adding about 5000 miles a MONTH to that total.
Original engine, trans, CLUTCH, and all timing belt components OTHER than the timing belt itself. The only things I've ever had to replace are the O2 sensors, front motor mount, A/C compressor clutch, and front LCA bushings.
I'm due for the timing belt change right about now, and the tensioner bearing is making a little noise, so I'm doing everything this time (T-belt, tensioner, water pump, cam seal, oil pump (front main seal), t-stat, belts, hoses, etc.).
Normally I replace everything during the 100k service, but I wasn't the one to do the first two timing belts on this car. I bought this car from the original owner who LITERALLY maintained this car by the book. (Oil every 10k miles, oil/filter every 20k miles, timing belt only every 100k miles, etc.)
Mods done to the car:
Suspension/Handling:
- Koni Yellow's (installing next weekend)
- Tein S-Tech Springs (installing next weekend)
- Progress Rear Sway Bar
- KSport rear lower control arms (installing next weekend)
- Password JDM rear upper camber arms (installing next weekend)
- Ingalls front camber bolts/kit (installing next weekend)
- Rota Boost 16x7" wheels w/hubcentric rings installed (56.1/64.1mm)
- BFG Sport-comp tires 205/50/16
Power
- Injen short ram air intake
Stereo
- JL Audio Speakers
- Sony 660BT Double DIN DVD/HDRadio/Sirius/FM head unit (double DIN)
Other:
- 5% tint on all windows except two front have 30%. (Texas legal limit)
Stuff waiting to install:
- Exedy Clutch and Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel
- SS braided clutch line
- SS braided brake lines
- Of course all the OEM Honda timing belt goodies and associated parts.
Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the forum. I've owned Honda's since 1996 when I started driving. (Nissans too, specifically the 90-96 300zx). I own an EP3 Civic SI right now too (my wife's car).
I purchased the EM2 because I wanted something that got better mileage than the EP3... which "averaged" about 24-25mpg per tank. We are doing a K20A CTR swap on that car soon, so I may look at using the K20A3 in it to swap into the EM2...we'll see. It'll have half the miles on it if we do that. Our EM2 is averaging between 38 and 42mpg PER TANK average. Again, I do probably 98% hiway miles, so it's pretty easy on the car.
Has a cracked bumper on the driver side, and a little parking lot battle damage on the passenger side door (suburban backed into it).... I plan on fixing said damage one of these days.

Your rims are tight!
I could have sworn I saw some litigation about the tint limit dropping to 20-25% here in Tx. Idk it might have been gossip lol.

It changed either in 2009 or 2010... there is no restriction on the rear back window, and on 2 doors, the two rear side windows. All other windows it's 30% for the darkest. If it was a 4 door, all side windows max 30%, but still no restriction on rear window.
I actually picked up those wheels on eBay for $425 shipped. I got them because I hit a tire on I-20 (truck re-tread) and it bent both of my front wheels, so it was a good time to upgrade. Tires were free (off of my 04 EP3, hence why they are 16" Rotas), since my EP3 has 17" RPF1's and Conti DW's.

I dunno about the build thread... we'll see how long the original D17A1 lasts and THEN we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

The plates are custom plates that Texas offers (www.myplates.com) for an additional fee every year. Mine say "Don't Tread on Me" in addition to my "OH RLY" (oh really?) message.
Here's some "after" lowered/suspension goodies pictures, and I replaced the front bumper (about a 98% perfect color match).
I still have to fix the passenger side door..
