Yeah thjese are kinda crappy pictures with my phone. And the reason the color looks different is because there was a storm coming and alot of dust was getting flung around.

Re: Halo projector... good or bullshit?

well i guess as the resident ricer i'll tell you some positives of ebay lamps.

~i love mine and have been runing them for over a year.
~all leds are still working
~i've only had to replace one of the bulbs since i baught it from ebay
~mine use stock bulbs in projector lamps. which is great for replacment since to do so is cheap and it's easy to find the bulbs.
~they came with a one year warranty <look for these ones, which are obviously higher quality if the company will replace them.

on the technical side

~they come with a plug and play harness with different ways to set up the leds.
~the inor lights are the day time lights/hibeams when you flick the switch and the outer lights are the night lights.

they also came with the grille. not everything on ebay is crap, you just have to read the descriptions and feedback before buying them.

i bought the set with the grille for $130 before shipping, shipping brought it to somewhere around $160. so not the cheapest set but i love em, and duing evening shots people always give me possitive feedback on how the halo's look. some on this forum don't like blue, but i do =D.

Hey DS,
I'm in TO, and interested in improving the light output of my 2001 Civic,
where did you get your projectors?
Did u use the stock housing to install the retrofits?

Thanks

Hey, I am quite sure I will be ordering those projectors next week and just pick up a set of headlights from a junkyard so I wont have to go without headlights while doing the retrofit. Just wondering about the shrouds, I like the mini graphite the best but when I look for angel eyes they are not in the list of compatible shrouds, looking at the picture of them they almost look like the way its made the light from the projector shines around it ?
thanks for the reply and patience for some of these maybe stupid sounding questions lol

No they dont work like that.If you go to the shrouds page and go to graphite ones you'll notice that the page says they'll work with 80mm halos.

Re: Halo projector... good or bullshit?

I would not buy the cheap ebay headlights with projectors in them if you want to use HID bulbs:

1. Many are not made for HID bulbs. Halogen projectors are not the same as HID projectors. Just as you cannot simply put HID bulbs into our stock reflector housings and expect good light output and not blind traffic(This is due to the different optics between HID bulb and halogen filament bulb), same goes for projectors. A halogen projector's reflector bowl will be designed to expect a filament light source. If you stick a HID bulb in there, you will not get optimal results, since the position and size of the light source will be different. Chances are you are going to see hot spots everywhere, where as ideally you would like a single hot spot to be directly in the center of your cutoff and have the light uniformly dim the further you are from the hot spot for each head light.

2. Most output pictures I have seen from cheap projector headlights on ebay are complete crap. Messy cutoffs with hot spots everywhere.

If you want to do it right, get quality projectors from a reputable source like theretrofitsource.com and do a retrofit yourself. It's not that hard and there are plenty of tutorials online. Look at an output of a proper retrofit compared to the OP's output and you will notice a significant difference.

Here is a shot of my retrofit's output. The passenger side's rotation is off(since corrected) and almost all the light you see above the cutoff is from my cheap ebay fog lights. But you get the idea.
