Bardahl power steering fluid = oem?

I was at honda the other day getting paint and the parts guy didnt have any PSF but he said he tells people we can use the bardahl one which is the exact same fluid. Is that true?

Did a search on bardahl and heres a link i found

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...&Number=997677

bardahl PSF is ok to use?

Another thing he said is if i had any honda atf on me, i said yes, and he said i could use that too because its the same. He said honda atf and honda psf is the exact same minus the dye (and the dye wont harm anything)

Is this true? Use honda atf?

Re: Bardahl power steering fluid = oem?

Umm.. this used to be true pre-1990. Nowadays though, power steering fluid has a different checmical composition than ATF. The mechanic is probably old-school. I'd use this if you want bordahl:

oooops

Re: Bardahl power steering fluid = oem?

Most honda fluids are made by Idemitsu Lubricants of America (www.ilacorp.com). That includes ATF, PSF, Oil, Differential Fluid, etc.

Honda DOT brake fluid and Type 2 Coolant (Antifreeze) is made by CCI Manufacturing IL (www.cci-il.com).

The ATF is not the same as the PSF (!), and it is not guaranteed to be the same as any aftermarket (Bardahl, Valvoline, or anyone else who makes a "Honda" PS Fluid).
