Whats the minimum required Octane level for 7th gen SI?

i was just told that 7th gen SI's min. fuel octane level is 91...basically premium, is that true? I cant find the fuel requirment in my manual. Also did a search on here and another member said so too, all SI's require 91 octane level aka premium. Any NON SI civic is 87, otherwise SI is 91.

You must use at least Premium unleaded 91 octane. You WILL run into engine problems if you dont. And yes, the Civic Si IS a sports car. In the regular civics you can use regular unleaded 87. However with the Si MUST use at least 91 octane. The compression is very high.
also

you can run 87 but your gonna have a lot of engine problems...because of the high compression (11.1:1 i beleive) you need a higher octane gas which is harder to burn
also

you can only use 87 on an engine lower than 10:1
Yes, your car will run on lower octane. But it won't run great. Your computer will retard your timing and you'll have a sluggish feeling car. Don't expect your car to perform well using lower octa
If this is true then SOB, do you think ive been damaging my engine with reg 87 gas??!!?!?!!?!??!.

If I need to run premium and i start for now on, will it do any damage to the engine or pipes switching after running reg all this time? Its got 146,000KM...which is like 96,000Miles.

When you search look for info on the ex model, not the si, because you have a d17a2 not a k20a3.

87 is appropriate.

+1. Keep in mind you have a Canadian Civic. That's why your results were weird.

Ya, remember that you're Canadian and the Canadian SI is the American EX. Most guys on this site are referring to American model names. So when he says SI he means the Canadian SiR.
