There's only one cat converter right? The shop my cars at is trying to say I'm missing one and there's definatly one on there.

yeah tell them to *** off and take your business elsewhere thats ridiculous. unless the previous owner added an after market exhaust and what you think is a cat is just a resonator or the previous owner gutted the stock cat rendering it useless . they said you were missing one as in not having one at all maybe not as in there is one of two missing . did this shop do an emissions test or did they just visually inspect you car why were you there in the first place?? take a pic of your exhaust so we can see whats up.
