Bumper/Paint repair

So the previous owner of my ES2 was a teenage girl. I need to repair the damage that was caused by a few bumps to the back of the car(all cosmetic). I was wondering if sanding/priming/then painting would be a viable option for these knicks? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

I would. How would you go about painting it? For me personally that isn't enough to get a shop to do it, or to use a gun. Try picking up some matching Dupli-Color from your auto store, and rattle can it.

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

Your first mistake is buying a car off of a teenage girl

The dupli color should be fine as long as you prep the areas first, and not just go nuts and spray every knick you see in sight. Now if you're going for the ricey look ...go ahead and go nuts every where , include some neon colors too while youre at it, lol

Ehh, it wasnt up to me. I needed a car, and we were lucky to find this one at the dealership. At the time, I was coming from a POS 94 accord, so It didnt bug me. I really take pride in this car though, so I want it to look nice.

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

try to buff it with a rubbing compound to see how much stuff comes off. then whatever areas are showing try touchup paint, let it dry, then buff again to blend it. will look pretty good but nothing like a full spray job at the shop.

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

This is a good thread for me because i have the same thing on my rear bumper that i wanted to touch up. But i have a problem, for some reason the bumper in the back isn't the same colour as the rest of the car, but you can't tell from far away. What should i do? I'm getting a new front bumper soon, should i just repaint the back while i'm at it?

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

that happened on my car too with factory bumper. i think paint on plastic ages differently and causes it to fade to a new color over time. im the only owner and the bumper is the original, and i take good care of the paint.

Re: Bumper/Paint repair

i'm a little afraid of rubbing compound. there's nothing wrong with using it, but when i did for the first time, it thinned the paint quite a bit in the area where i was touching it up. this was before the car was painted lol
