Normal Acceleration vs Cruise from acceleration

Alright, when I was looking at my manual 2004 civic ex, it said:

Shift Up Normal Acceleration

1st to 2nd 15mph (24km/h)
2nd to 3rd 28 mph (45km/h)
3rd to 4th 41mph (66 km/h)
4th to 5th 52mph (83 km/h)

Shift Up Cruise from acceleration

1st to 2nd 7mph (11km/h)
2nd to 3rd 22 mph (35km/h)
3rd to 4th 33mph (53 km/h)
4th to 5th 48mph (77 km/h)

So is that means if I want better fuel economy I use "Cruise from acceleration" ? Better health in the engine use "Normal Acceleration"?

Re: Normal Acceleration vs Cruise from acceleration

I never understood what this meant when I read that.

I just shift to 2nd when I feel the car losing power, then I keep it simple,
shift to 3rd at 30mph
shift to 4th at 40mph
shift to 5th at 50mph.

But that was in my DX without the RPM guage. Now I have an RPM guage and I just shift when it's between 3k and 4k. If I'm trying not to set off alarms in a little street I shift around 2k - 2.5k. If I'm hopping on the freeway I shift at 4k to 4.5k.

Someone, please tell me if I am doing something wrong. I didn't have much instruction on driving a manual other than learning how to take off from a dead stop.
