Damn, 8th gens are coming down in price.

I would sell privately, your guaranteed to get more, it's just a little more hassle.

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

That must have been a commuter car for somebody. Or company courtesy vehicle.

Just looking at those pics makes me wanna go get one.

I say -if it aint broke dont fix it- Keep the car you got. 8th gens are only going to get cheaper hahah.

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

well if it's a 2006 then don't do it ... Apparently a lot of people get cracked engine blocks and have to replace it. Costs like $4500 - $5000

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

forget it. its not worth the money mainly for the looks and nicer interior.
if i were you i would sell my civic for 3-3.5k on craigslist, then buy a salvaged civic off craigslist. i know here in san diego they pop up all the time for 6.5-7k all fixed up with around 20k miles EX. *** long as you get a civic that hadnt had any major damage in the front end, you should be good.

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

My mom had an 8th gen. They have problems with the rear control arm (i think that is what it was). They are too short by about half an inch and wear out the tires QUICK. She had 60k on it and replaced the tires twice. 20k on each set of tires. Honda would not do anything about it but tried to charge 1500-2000 to fix the problem.

Needless to say she got rid of it. Also, not really a big issue but it is annoying, the visor falls apart and will not stay in the up position so it is there obstructing your view. These were two of the common problems that the 8th gen has. There may be others but i can't remember.

Some have problems with the rear control arms which can be bought and replaced by yourself rather cheap (then aligned somewhere)

Tires do wear out a lot faster, especially if you are one that buys the cheapest set from walmart or the tire shop...

My '07 visors are still very tight...

mruizco,

I like the 8th gens, but if I were you, I would not trade for that particular car.
They both have almost the same amount of miles, but the other one is a little newer.

Sell yours privately for around 4-6k depending on where you are and put that money towards an 8th gen with less miles.

You can find a way better deal. You can find an 8th gen with 50k miles for around 11 grand in ohio

So basically selling yours privately vs. trading yours in towards that one, you would be looking at paying about $5-6,000 towards an 8th gen...

The choice is yours on which one you want...

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

FWIW, I think your car looks much, much better than that 8th gen. As much as I LOVE the 8th gen coupes... That 8th gen sedan is... FUGLY to say the least.

IMO, I would sell that 8th gen to buy your car. The front end is a joke, it looks like a toy car, and I don't get why the side-view mirrors are coming out the sides of the doors like that.

I guess it's a matter of personal opinion, but a little bit of me will die inside if you sell your car for that butt ugly sedan.

^if you think thats ugly you better get used to it. lol. I see most future cars looking like that, digital/information age and all that nonsense.

Steering wheel is too funky for me. It looks like it should belong in a minivan.

The tires weren't cheap wal-mart tires. My mom bought Micheline and Perelli from tire rack. They weren't the cheap ones either. They just wore out really fast. She took it in to the Honda dealer and it took them 4 or 5 visits to find the problem. Actually my mom did a little bit of research and told them the problem. The wanted between 1500 and 2k to fix the problem (and a few other minor things in the rear suspension). After all the trouble they admitted that it was a common problem.

As for the visor... It isn't a matter of if it is tight or not. There is a piece of plastic that runs across the inside of it. It snaps and dangles in front of the driver.

It's mainly the body that I'm not fond of.

I'm all set for the future , I REALLY like the 8th gen Civic Coupe and REALLY REALLY like the 8th gen Accord V6 Coupe. I can't afford either right now but I'll be happy driving either one of those in the future.

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

Ok guys, it's not whether or not you like what the 8th gen Civic Sedans look like...

Your personal preferences on what body styles you like shouldn't really matter to mruizco. Problems that could arise such as what mvanbv00 wrote does.

Hold your bashing of 8th gen car looks to yourselves. (I don't bash on your mom because she is ugly )

mruizco obviously must like it since he is thinking about trading in towards it.

He asked if it was a good deal. IMO, no, as stated in my previous post

Re: i want trade my car for this one,,,,

You have a point, but I think it's at least a little important to consider that some people think the car he has now looks much better than the one he wants to trade it for.
