Hi there, recently I notice my rear wheel has grinding sound. So I jack up the car and try to spin the wheel, and it does not spin freely. Is it very simple just take off the drum, remove the hub cap, unscrew hub nut and replace the whole bearing hub ( I heard is sealed together and has to buy bearing + hub)? Thank you for your time :]

If I am good to go, I am going to post DIY with photos, because I think there is no DIY rear bearing post, so please help!!

If it's sealed, then you can't service it. Take it to a shop. I've never personally done one, but you're probably better off letting a tech take care of it.

HEY!!! I just did my rear wheel bearing today, actually it is a piece of cake.

you need:

socket wrench
32mm socket
wheel bolt wrench (you can find it inside your trunk)

1. remove the bolts, just take the wheel off

2. get your outer drum out

3. pry your hub's dust cap out

4. remove the nut by using 32mm socket. ( you might need a bigger wrench or use a pipe to help you unscrew the nut)

5. take your bearing & hub assm. out ( Just slide it out)

6. put your new assm. in

7. put everything back on.

Glad to hear! I think I was thinking of JUST the bearing needing to be pressed out and a new one pressed in. Don't know why. I read the post and saw hub assembly. Lol.

i cant speak for the rear, but the front is a freaking PIA to take out. it requires expensive *** bearing extractor/press...etc

I am living in Canada, and I think I got rip off... that hub assm. cost me $116+tax from Piston Ring. I try to google my parts after, and I found out some $80 a PAIR with shipping....

Don't know if you guys have Prime Choice Auto where you live but that is where I got mine. 60$ after tax and a lifetime warranty, which we have already used once.

This thread is a couple years old. Not sure if any of those people are even on here still. That's a great price for a bearing with a lifetime warranty. Hopefully the quality is decent because having to constantly pull the bearing to cash the warranty in will be a real pain in the ***. Typically OEM bearings are the best way to go. Second is National and Timken. All three of which are very pricy. When I replaced my fronts I got National, the rears are OEM for now.
