4th, 5th gears hard to engage Had the clutch on my 2002 Civic replaced last April. Everything AOK until about two weeks ago. Now it's hard to engage 4th and 5th gears--and 4th has even popped out on me. A mechanic (not the one who did the replacement) just checked it today and said we need a new transmission, that it's not the clutch itself. 230,000 miles is a lot, so I guess this could be, but I'd like some feedback from those who know if this clutch/transmission connection is kosher.

If it's hard to engage gears or it's hopping outta gear, it's a transmission issue. Synchros are probably on their way out.
