so today my 2001 civic ex auto tranny takes a **** on me and thank god for my
salvage car hobby i have a spare tranny with 20,000 miles with title and i was wondering is it easier to rip whole motor out and then take tranny and swap or
just drop the original tranny and put new one
which one is cheaper and faster

You can't just take the tranny out and bolt in a new one, there is a long list of parts that also need to be changed over to make it work.

i would try and find a shop to do a manual swap. the "new" auto you put in will just take a dump like the old one did. or do a k20 swap.

Trans
Manual Subframe
Trans Mounts
Shifter
Shift Linkage
Master Cylinder
Drivers side axle.
Slave Cylinder
Pedal Assembly
Starter
Clutch
Flywheel
The shifter trim piece.
Manual ECU
Dash Harness
Engine Harness
Gauge Cluster
This isn't an old straight frame pick up with high tolerances and simple parts, the engineering is way more complex and things can't be changed easily.

As the other mods know, I had fairly major surgery this morning, and I'm currently while high on the oxycodone I was given for pain.
I'm going back to bed..
