2002 SI: Idle too high after starting engine

When I start the engine, the idle is at 2,500 RPM with an ambient temperature of 60 Degrees F. When the car was new, the idle was probably 1,200-1,300 RPM at the same temperature.

As the engine warms up, the idle goes down and the idle is normal with the engine completely warmed up. The car has 180,000 miles, the engine otherwise performs normally.

Any idea about why the idle is so fast at engine start?

Thanks

Do you own a diagnostic tool to plug into the obd2 port? Sounds like the engine is compensating for cold starts, without an engine code it'll just make it a hell of a time to figure it out.

I suggest even without showing a check engine light that you get it scanned. it could be a faulty o2 sensor thats about to bite the dust, but without knowing throwing parts at a car will just burn money up in your pocket.
