Have you ever opened a hood from any other car? If not, then that's probably why you are not FAMILIAR where the release is.
Usually after you pull the release, you go to the hood and feel between the grill of the car and the hood for a switch. Usually you can just slide your finger across and pull/push a flap that finally releases the hood all the way.

Hmm, try feeling for the flap you push to release the hood. If it is budging to click, you either have to :
A.) Push harder on the flap because its stuck
or
B.) wiggle the hood until the latch loosens up.
