If i apply 2 or 3 coats of VHT nightshades to tint my tail lights, is the final product irreversible? Should i even bother tinting them or would it be better to get a new pair of black tails from ebay?

you can always go lighter if you use polishing compound, which you will have to do anyway to make them really shine like paint. just be sure they are fully dry before you start polishing. keep going til it gets light enough (or comes off).

Like i'm just worried if the finished product will be too dark. Are they illegal anyways? I know a couple people who have tinted tail lights

yeah its illegal. if you get in an accident, its automatically your fault cause the brake/signal wasnt as visible.

lol $50 for couple pieces of vinyl. and you need to take care of that stuff by waxing every week or two otherwise it will turn yellow from the sun. there is no UV protection barrier in vinyl. the only thing i would use laminx for is the fogs since they are made of glass and break easily. and dont use with 55w bulbs or the film will burn. stick with h8 35w bulb or led. for headlamps, even the clear film will distort the beam and block some light.
