Service questions

Hello,

I recently did an oil change at the dealer near me on my 2004 civic ex manual since I was nearing 90k miles. I asked them to do an inspection for things that need to be serviced. They seemed kind of slimy, though, compared to the dealer I bought the car from a few years back, so I'm feeling a bit cautious about getting ALL of the service they recommended done since their quote was quite high.

They suggested I replace the timing belt (530$), and that sounds reasonable given the age of the car. They also recommended replacing the plugs/wires (135$), doing "brake maint.(lines/hoses/fluids)" for 90$ and "Induction service" for 150$ (I'm assuming that's a tune up, maybe?).

The car got a tune up, and had the plugs gapped/cleaned about two years/10k miles ago.

I really don't want to just **** away all that money, but I don't really have the tools or space to do any service/inspection myself right now. Do any of the above suggestions sound like obvious rip-offs?

Thanks!

Re: Service questions

Manual for my 02 Civic says timing belt at 110K but my buddy who is a mechanic says 90K just because I am in Arizona (hot dry weather can dry the belt and crack faster). So depending on where you are I would say timing belt at 90K is reasonable and that price is pretty good if they are doing it right and replacing the water pump while in there. I wouldn't be to concerned with doing the other things they recommended and they can easily be done yourself.

Lol I would love to get all new spark plugs and coil packs for 130 bucks. Obviously they dont know what they are talking bout there. Coil packs are like 90 bucks for 1.
