Hey guys
I just bought a 2002 Civic EX with about 104,000 miles. Its an awesome car, BUT it didn't pass smog due to the headers and Short Ram Intake(emissions and everything else came out clean)... HOWEVER its a DC headers, and i found a carb sticker in the glove box, so are the headers legal? I think that the headers are legal, but the SRI isn't... any good suggestions on a carb legal sri for my car? I'm in California by the way(if you couldn't tell), and the carb legal means its legit to pass smog in cali right? I totally forgot all about carb legal **** in cali
Thanks everyone

i really don't see how a short ram intake would make it illegal/not pass smog. its just a different pipe to get air to the engine. and the dc header should be legal if you've got the proof of it.

It passes smog, but the visual inspection is a fail because of the headers(which i now know are carb legal). The guy that i bought it from took it to get smogged and the guy told him that everything passes but he couldn't pass it because of the headers, but he didn't mention anything about the SRI...
So i'm guessing the guy didn't know that it was carb legal? I found the sticker in the glovebox today... haha... I thought all intakes had to have the sticker on em for them to pass smog...

the DC header has a stamp with the carb eo on it. there should be nothing else required. and get an aem intake, it comes with carb sticker. generic intakes will not pass in cali. if you dont see this stamp, then you might have the race header version which is not legal. or a generic non-dc header.

Yea, i'm gonna check to see if that stamp is there. I'm pretty sure it isn't... oh well, i can just throw the old one on before i take it to get smogged. Just waiting on my AEM short ram intake to get here...

Yea, it didn't have the stamp. Just a plain ol' DC headers logo stamp... I wonder what the sticker is for... I'll post pics in a min of both the sticker and headers...

shouldnt the air quality be good then if they enforce all these laws? its still bad. and an air intake or header doesnt change anything about how efficient a motor is. so long as there is a cat, nothing else really matters. its just swapping one pipe for another. the only difference being one is much more expensive and comes with a flashy sticker.

i fully agree. with out sounding to hippie we only have one planet. but we need to do more then make sure hondas have cats an what not. we need to start with the huge 8 liter v8s that drive around an get 8 mpg. sry but its annoying to c some old dude in a 32 duce run open header puking co2 an other crap plus retarded noise pollution down the road an its fine but i drive down the in my honda with a relativly quiet exhaust an get nailed for a modified exhaust. i understand cars were made diff back in the day but they r still killin the planet.

It would if people didn't go home and put their turbos and everything else on right after they passed smog. But i'm pretty sure its not cars like ours that are causing the shitty air in california. In fact, i bet its not gas vehicles at all. Its those damn diesels
So anyway, how the hell do i lube the ebrake cable? lol I'm getting annoyed with the little squeak i get everytime i release the brakes...

even with a turbo, i never threw any emissions related codes.. only code I ever had was a "afr mixture lean condition" due to the 11.9 afr required for the turbo.. Even so, our civics (i'm referring to 01+, btw) are classified ULEV, so civics really don't add much vehicluar emissions pollution compared to say, old muscle cars or the like..
Diesel supposedly burns cleaner.. heard that somewhere, read a few things online.. thats what i'm goin on off of. I'm too lazy to google it.

No way does Diesel burn cleaner. Since its combusted by compressed air, it doesn't burn off all the gas and hydrocarbons as efficiently as cars with spark plugs... i mean look at all the black stuff pouring out of the 18 wheelers....

Mmmm that black stuff looks good to breathe in
