Rep Power: 0 Wire harness and ecu question.. Please help asap
I have a 2001 civic lx coupe... It's time to replace the engine..
Ok I'm buying a D17a2 from a 2002 civic ex.. Now I'm wondering if I have to switch the whole wire harness? Or will the one for the D17a1 work? As you know the a2 is a vtec and the a1 is not..
Also the new engine doesn't have the ecu.. What Manuel ecu should I use?
Off topic... I will probably have to replace the 5 speed transmission soon.
What transmissions will work? Will it have longer gear ratios? Please help I'm a civic noon

whats wrong with the engine that u need to replace it?
also the A1 harnss should work fine. if u got a 01-02 A2 motor then it's the same minus 2 wires for vtec. if it's a 03-05 the o2 wiring will be diffrent. (wideband vs narowband.)

Sense you are already planning to pay for the swap, get a better engine. Get a k20a2 instead of the slow *** d17. You will be much happier off.

Alot of the gaskets need to be replaced. Some internal problems aswell.. I can't find any k20 engines in northern Wisconsin. I found a b20, but as you know that won't fit or meet efficency specs for an 01.. The engine wAs from a 02 civic...
My civic also lost about 10 mpg so I'm driving. My moms 92 civic for now...
Why the heck does the 92 civic lx feel faster than my 01 civic lx?

Less restrictions?? Sounds like someone has been neglecting their civic.
