Rep Power: 0 2002 Civic switchblade mod
When I bought this car from my sister, she only had the valet key, and the slave key. I searched online for the correct FCC ID number and I wanna make sure I get the correct one before I purchase a remote.
FCC ID: NVHWB1U521 - Is this the correct FCC ID remote that will work with my '02 Civic LX?
I don't know why, but for some reason I really want to do a flip key mod with my 2002 Civic LX. A while ago I saw the post for the Acura EL/Civic flip key mod somewhere in the forum, but for some reason I don't really like the way it was written up because it sounded so complicated when really it shouldn't be that complicated right?
I saw a flip key mod on the 8th gen forum and the whole write up for the mod was better simplified and easy to follow. However, the write up was for the 8TH GENERATION Civic. I searched Amazon for a "flip key blank for the '02 civic" and I have came across this one:
With that said, do you all think this key will work, if I do it the same way the person did it in the 8th gen post?
One last question: Does the transponder chip need to be wired to a power source such as the battery on the remote?
From what I've read about transponder chips, they transmit to the receiver when they come in contact with the key cylinder, therefore they do not need power. Am I correct?

i think this is a much cooler product http://mykeyport.com/ also remember new keys have to be rep-rogrammed and will cost $50 to $100 dollars to do so.
