Picked up this Civic need advice/help

I have attached some photos of my new Honda Civic 2005 VP edition, this one has no vtec, no power windows, even to tachometer. This is just the base model. I love the car i spent about $5900 on it and it has 125k miles.
I am new to the civic world and new to the car world sort of as well. I am a new member and I have a few questions.

First
-What do you think of my car?
-What should be done off the bat to improve looks and performance?
-Are there any things that should be taken off or changed about it right now?
-What are those orange springs in the picture?
-Do i have a good CAI (cold air intake) and is it helping me?
-Are the wheels any good or just some kind of junk?

Again I purchased this car just like this, with all additions that it has.

Only things I have added so far is a new custom JVC stereo deck and a windowshield mount for my iphone.

EDIT: the car underneath in the steering column makes a crunching kind of clanking noise when the wheel is turned to the left or right. Sometimes you dont have to turn it very far and others it goes away after driving around a while. any ideas?

Look good, check if the previous owner changed the timing belt and if not this will need to be done. The intake is a short ram not cai, it won't help much.
If the suspension noise disappear after driving a while, it can be some rust at some joint or something that need lubrication

Re: Picked up this Civic need advice/help

thanks a lot man! appreciate it. Ill have to check up on the timing belt.
should i get new basic things such as sparks plugs and air filter maybe some flushes to make sure everything is running well? So what benefits do i get from the short ram intake? better gas mileage?
and yes the noise seems to be going away when im turning

Re: Picked up this Civic need advice/help

your number one priority should be your timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and water pump, if these have never been changed (or if you have no proof of it) i would have this done ASAP,

a broken timing belt will cause severe engine damage,

have the cooling system drained and filled, if you change the water pump it will need to be drained anyway, use OEM parts and OEM honda coolant,

it never hurts to throw in new spark plugs and PCV valve,

your short air intake will not do anything in the way of performance, all it will do is make more noise,
