can someone help with the sound i am hearing. i heard a weird ticking sound under load.
it was there less than a year ago. its a 2004 civic with 225,000 miles.
I had the head gasket fixed a month ago but sound was there before that. and timing belt was changed a year ago

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Sound is exhaust leakage from the manifold.
LX: Cracked casting is very common, but could be a problem with studs and gasket leakage too.
You could probably remove the heat shields from the top of the manifold and see the crack.

someone else told me the sound could be a bad ignition timing. or loose valves.

you're absolutely right. after doing online research, i thought it was a metal sound. i went to a shop, two different people confirmed an exhaust leak and that would explain the tiny crack in my exhaust manifold and the smell of burned gas.
