EM to EM2 center console swap

i was just wondering how much work would be involved to get a complete center console from and EM2 into my 01 civc, i want to do this because i want to have the storage space of the center console box/arm rest and i like the beverage holders with a flip cover.

thanks,

Jay

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

The arm rest is a part of the ex seat, not the center console.

I've never seen this done before, it would be pretty involved for only a minor improvement.

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

Some of the sedan civics have an armrest built in dont they? ... dont think it was ever in the coupe tho. Dunno... I've just been in the coupes before.

I'd head over to majestic honda (google it) and see if the sedan and the coupes consoles have the same mounting points. If they do, swap it if you want to.

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

i have an armrest in my LX sedan right now that is attached to the seat but i would rather have the one that is built into the console because of the added storage. I want it to be like this with.

as opposed to this

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

I want it to look like the one that is a standard as opposed to the one that is an automatic which is what my center console looks like.

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

That was a styling change, not an automatic manual difference.

i know that but those were the only pics that i could find that could show the difference between em and em2, I like the styling of the em2 console more.

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

well its not really that kind of change either lol. the 04-05 civics got the updated interior console. all 01-05 are em2 (coupe) or es1 (sedan). the new consoles come on the newer models with some stuff added. i havent tried but i dont think it will match up. too many differences. and isnt the redesign too bulky? i could never have all that junk piled up in the middle lol. i like the sleek 01-03 shape better. that would drive me nuts esp since i use my ebrake so much when driving.

Re: EM to EM2 center console swap

I found some info, I'm not sure if it applies to sedans though.
