Change Shifter Bushings?...Help....

What's good ya? I read that changing the stock rubber shifter bushings can help the shifter feel and also makes the shift more precise. Is this true and is it really worth to change the rubber shifter bushings to the aftermarket aluminum ones? Finally, is it hard to change the rubber bushings to the aluminum ones? Thanks for any answers...

Re: Change Shifter Bushings?...Help....

i changed mine out when i put in my short shifter and i like the aluminums better. its not hard at all either. unscrew your shift ****, pop out the panel that the shift boot is connected to. on the shifter assemble itself there are 4 bolts, one on each corner of the assembly. remove the bolt, and the bushing should come right out. put in the aluminum bushing and then put the bolt back in. should take no more than 15-20 minutes and that's including removing the shift **** and panel and then re-installing them. not hard at all man

Re: Change Shifter Bushings?...Help....

Change the ones under the hood and leave the ones on your shifter box there unless you just really want to mess with it. I changed both and the ones under the shifter were a pain because I dont like messing with the plastics in my interior, the ones under the hood are easy and make a real difference. It was like a 30min job and I have no idea what im doing on a car. The ones on the inside took me a while because im super careful.

On a side note none of it really made much of a dif but for 60 bucks I wont complain. My skunk 2 weighted shift **** has been the biggest dif so far with the revo ss coming in second.

www.strutking.com

That is where you buy the bushings for both the shifter and the tranny...under the hood.

Hey guys I heard that the cable shifter bushings (the ones under the hood) will cause vibrations/ noise/ rattling all at the expense of a crisper shifter feel? Is this true or are people just really sensitive?

The 8 piece set goes under the shifter, the 4 piece set goes at the end of the shifter cable. Buy both, they are cheap.

I've had mine several months and I havent heard as much as a squeek out of them.
