Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

it looks good. my suggestion was going to be to paint the door handles, mirror and that ugly black line on the side all silver to match the car, but i see you did the handles and line. it looks great.

maybe paint the mirrors silver though? i think the rims, headlight blacking and hood match well enough but the mirrors are a bit too much.

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

nice job!
I got the same car as you too.
I am going to paint my handle and the black body line to silver too.
What paint do you use? And what's your procedures? (clean the area? then primer? and then spray on it)?

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

I got the paint off http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ and i went with a primer coat, sanded that, then 2 coats of base, wet sanded, then 3 clear coats. Just be sure to mask off the area really well. I rushed masking it off and ended up having to spend about an hour getting the over spray off with rubbing compound. And if you do get any on the windows, just hit it with some 1000 grit steal wool and it should come off pretty easily .

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

just wonder how long did you wait to sand it after applying primer and the 2 coats of base?

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

I read some article saying that you need 1500 grit sand paper for wet sanding.
Is it true? I only have 600 as the finest one.

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

600 is way too rough. any auto or home remodel store should have sandpapers, even walmart.

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

but 800 is already defined as "ultra fine", and I was using it for wet sanding.

Re: My 04 sedan still a work in progress

it wont be very smooth and shiny, youre supposed to finish with 1500-2000, at least 1000. then you can polish it further with scratch-x.
