the basic stuff will not give you extra hp like it would on another car. on most cars if you do the header, intake, and full exhaust system you get a fairly good gain. in a d17 those same mods dont do anything. you will get maybe 5 hp from doing all of that at most. there are a few other mods that will help performance, but not really give you extra hp. first thing you can do is get hondata k-pro. its an engine management system that hooks up to your car and you can tweak levels. you can pull about 15 hp out of kpro without doing anything else with a stock engine i believe. k-pro new is around 1000 for the system new but you might be able to find a used one on here for cheaper. your next step is to get a turbo system installed. again depending on the kit and who does installation, youre looking at about 5k on average.
i know a few guys in the past couple weeks have mentioned parting out their turbo kits on here, you might be able to pick up some good parts for cheap. just check the for sale sections.
the biggest problem people have with getting extra hp is that they dont have the money to use to do it. you obviously do, so thats the hardest part already done. start by reading stuff in this:
