New member, looking for ideas!

What's up, fellow 7th gen-ers! i just bought myself a 2001 Civic EX 5 Speed Coupe. Previous owner didnt like the front end that much and decided to change it up a little (pictures below). I am not too happy with their work, so have decided to do an 03+ front conversion on this car. I am also going to do tails and rear bumper. I was wondering if anyone knew if the red gauge cluster (i believe from 03+ also) would be a direct bolt in swap for me. I was also wondering what suspension should i look for to get my 205/40ZR17's sitting up in the wheelwell nicely, while still maintaining decent quality and full alignment (BF Goodrich G Force Sports, so I don't want camber wear). Any other suggestions on what I should do while i have it torn down will be heard with open ears! Thanks guys, and look forward to many future days browsin through the Civic Forums!

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

I'd stick with the front end thats on there now. I haven't seen anyone else with that look. You could get an awesome sticker for the windshield that says cyclops. Be bold.......Be different!

Anyway...... to do the 04-05 front end conversion, you need fenders, hood, bumper, grill, and lights, so look at your funds first to make sure that is all good. Looks like you need all of that stuff anyway so you should be fine with it. I believe the guage cluster is easy swap, but if you search, I know others have done it and you can find the answer. Good luck with the new whip and keep us posted on the rebuild process. Have fun.

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

LOL I was thinking about keeping it like that too but something about local laws with the one headlight deal....lol but yea I need all those parts anyways plus radiator support, radiator, condenser, and all kinds of other fun stuff but I got a good deal on the car, and I have been looking for an entire used front clip so as to stick with OEM...thanks, and i will post up pictures of rebuild process.....I'm hoping it will look a little like yours when I'm done...looks nice!

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

yeah you will have to replace the whole radiator cradle. you have to drill out the spot welds to get the old one off though. hit up 7thgenhonda.com. in the members rides, speedfoos is doing this conversion right now and has a lot of pics of what all is involved and all the parts you need. any 1.5-2" drop should do it nicely. just fiy, nitto neogens are great tires and are designed to wear normally under a little negative camber, if you happen to have some. oh while you're at it, why not go with a koyo radiator. and might as well respray the engine bay while you're there.

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

Yeah you can make an 03-05 cluster fit in there. There is a thread on here by Honder and DirtySAMURAI. I just did the swap and I can tell you its a piece of cake. I have a few things wrong with it but its an easy DIY.

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

It's not that difficult to pull the raddy cradle. All you really need is a drill, a hammer and a chisel. There are about two dozen spot welds to bust out and then it comes right off. There's a vendor on ebay (Car Parts Wholesale) that has good prices on all the parts you'll need (raddy cradle, bumper filler, hood, bumper cover, fenders, splash shields) and then it's a matter of picking your headlights and grill. Aftermarket headlights and grill (fenders too from PasswordJDM) are just as cheap or cheaper than OEM ones.

I'm switching to a half radiator as well to give more room for the turbo - it's a cheaper option than dumping $280 on a new Koyo full raddy.

Re: New member, looking for ideas!

The gauge cluster fits no problem buy there are two connectors that you need to re-pin, about 3 dozen wires or so.

Reading > you.

Look at the previous posts in this thread to see what is involved in putting 04-05 front end parts on 01-3 vehicles.

I got em, I'm dissatisfied with the beam pattern. They are like flood lights low to the ground that barely make the ground visible to the driver- they really light up the area in front of the bumper, but from behind the wheel its almost impossible to see them- and I've got them aimed right.

black out headlights, mesh grill, front lip, HID kit, maybe TEiN S-tech springs, and some wheels....blacking out your headlights is the easiest mod you will ever do
