Re: What CAR do i drive

D17A5
SOHC VTEC

Found in :

2000-2005 HONDA CIVIC & CIVIC FERIO (JAPAN)

2004-2005 HONDA CIVIC VTi & VTi-S (INDONESIA), EX (Brazil)

2004-2005 HONDA STREAM (INDONESIA)

I don't think that's what you have though...

Looks more like an SI, and iVTEC would imply K series engine, I believe...

Honda Civic 170i VTEC hatch

Honda's new Civic hatchback is very unlike its forebear, being one of the growing trend of cars which almost resembles an MPV in its nature - such as the Peugeot 307. It's not an MPV though, merely a capacious small-family hatchback with lots and lots of room.

It has a good petrol engine, a smooth drivetrain and a comfortable ride. It's not remarkable in any respect, but goes about everything it does respectably and is extremely well built.

It looks better in real life than it does in pictures, but there's no mistaking the first impression that the Civic has swollen substantially in its latest incarnation and lost the sleek lines of the previous generation. In fact, this five-door version looks like it wants to be an MPV when it grows up.

It has many of the hallmarks of the genre, such as a short bonnet and cab-forward design, a flat floor and dash-mounted gear stick for maximum interior space, a high roof, large expanses of glass and huge attention to detail in the packaging of the cabin and its facilities.

In terms of height, it's halfway between an average traditionally-styled hatchback and compact MPVs such as the Renault Scenic, Citroen Xsara Picasso and so on. Before even climbing inside, it's obvious that this model is far roomier than its more svelte predecessor, even though it's actually shorter in length.

Wasn't really the question... all i want to know is if there are other ppl driving this car and what it is referred to as on the forum (EX,LX,GX,PX,XX,ZZY etc) because our Civics in SA are not named that way.

Re: What CAR do i drive

not sure if youve read this yet but here it goes...

These are basically dependant on trim levels

DX was your base model trim, No options (exception of A/C on later models i believe)

LX was a step above, adding moonroof/sunroof, etc...

EX was the loaded model i think?

Si was based of the "Super Injected" models by engine

these are not to exact specifics but instead to give you a slight idea^^
With that being said, what is all included in your model?
im assuming a 1.7L VTEC (EcoTec) engine?

Re: What CAR do i drive

If you're referring to codes ending with "X", such as VX, DX, LX, EX then those are just trim levels like FGCOUPE said. They just come with different options pre-installed.

If you're talking about codes like EG, EF, EJ, EG, EM, then those are different generations/chassis of Civics. Those codes are based off VIN numbers. My VIN number starts "HGEM2...", hence, 7th gen Civics are referred to as EM2
