Mec. O2 sim with DX/LX header

For those who installed a header on your DX/LX, were you able to fit a mechanical O2 simulator on the 2nd O2 sensor (the bottom one)?

I am afraid that it will be a really tight fit since it is located in front of the engine on the same side as the alternator :? On a EX, it is easy since the 2nd O2 is under the car... but on the DX/LX!!!

The mechanical O2 sim add some noticeable lenght to the sensor!

Did somebody try it?

Are you talking tight fit meaning the length of the wire?

I mean the space between the header and the alternator. Look on this picture:

I don't think I can fit the O2 sensors+ the mechanical sim... Maybe, I'll need to install it and see by myself....

OH I see, your new header wont have clearance ... I have a header but it is a custom DP with my o2 sensor centered and just about 12 inches lower than OEM... What is the o2 simulator for?

No... you don't get it It's the o2 sensor when attached to the O2 sim that won't have enough room.

The O2 sim is used because the catalysor will be removed by using a header (DX/LX has the cat in the exhaust manifold). Without a cat, the 2nd O2 sensor detect a problem and will give a check engine light (CEL). With the sim, the 2nd sensor think that the cat is still there, so no CEL! There is some electronic simulator and the one I intent to use is a mechanical one, It's cheaper to do and effective (in most of the case)! Search on it, there is a lot of thread on this subject.
