Exclamation Mileage - Cluster or ECU

Ok i am planning to put a 2001 lx cluster in my 2001 dx. I found its a direct swap and the wiring already exists.

Question comes down to, where is the mileage stored? In the cluster or ECU? Do i have to take it to dealership inorder to get the mileage right?

It's in the cluster, and the dealership won't help. Take 30 seconds to search the site, next time.

Re: Mileage - Cluster or ECU

Actually I believe it is stored in both. That's the way they can get you on mileage fraud if you throw in a new cluster or somehow disengage the odometer on the cluster... if the cluster and ecu don't match up and you are trying to pass it off as having lower miles it is actually fraud and it means prison and huge fines.. there are places that say they can change the mileage, but the guys at my local dealership said that they couldn't do it..
