8th Gen Honda Civic2006 and up is the 8th Generation Honda Civic. It adds a new look to the Civic line-up. A really smooth front end separates it from previous generations while still carrying the reliability of the Civic name.

Has anyone changed out the trunk release on their LX Civic with one from an EX so that you can have a remote trunk release? I know you have to get a new key that has the third button for the trunk but I'm wondering if the car is wired the same for both the LX and EX. It would be nice if all I had to do was change the trunk lock and get a new key.
I took a look at a friends 2008 Civic EX yesterday and it looks like the locking mechanism might be the same. I'll probably check with Honda to see if the part number is the same. I also noticed the EX does not put a key lock in the trunk door.
Both the LX and EX have a single electrical connector that goes to the locking mechanism. When I remove the wire from the lock on the EX the remote trunk release no longer works.
