8th Gen Honda Civic 2006 and up is the 8th Generation Honda Civic. It adds a new look to the Civic line-up. A really smooth front end separates it from previous generations while still carrying the reliability of the Civic name.

instrument cluster display - extra functionality?

wondering if anyone figured out any extra functionality for the little LCD display in the instrument cluster. Currently mine (DX-G) it only displays mileage and oil life (i don't have a temp sensor). Wondering if there are any hidden goodies there.

Also, has anyone added a temperature sensor to their civic?

For the LX the temperature bar is in the pod with the speed and gas gauge.

Oh, okay, I know the option can be had with the rear view mirror with the outside temp. I wanted it but the guy forget to offer it to me when I bought the car until after the fact.

I don't think it's worth it. The sensor is situated just inside the front bumper, which is too close to the engine. The engine will cause the sensor to show a few added degrees.

Smile

I have an EX and the temp is part of the odometer. The temperture is always very close.

FYI - I was looking at the automirror (I have one in my Altima and I love it) and it has a compass and not a temp sensor.

Same here and it is within a degree so far.
Matter of fact, I usually leave my display on temp and trip (reset each time I gas up...)

I love it on my EX. The temp sensor is fairly accurate. You can, however, adjust it. Look for it in the owner's manual.
