8th Gen Honda Civic 2006 and up is the 8th Generation Honda Civic. It adds a new look to the Civic line-up. A really smooth front end separates it from previous generations while still carrying the reliability of the Civic name.

i am really surprised at how many bad user reviews for the civic i'm finding online.
i know that most people who are happy do not bother to write about it but still, many of the complaints are similar.
for example at yahoo: civic: http://autos.yahoo.com/honda_civic_s...DYyFQdrixuiL8F
compared to the mazda 3 review at yahoo: http://autos.yahoo.com/mazda_mazda3-...DYyFQdriyiNMIF
i am really reconsidering the idea of buying a new civic.

Its really up to you. Test drive both and see what you like. I bet you will like Mazda better, but my personal view is that I would never trust Mazda again. What's the point of buying Japanese car if half the parts in it are from American. But both of those will last you at least 3 years with no problems, which is more than enough in my opinion to get tired of your ride, nomatter how much you loved it in the beginning. I take my civic for long trips about 180 miles each way, feels ok, just not enough power to take off on hwy

I would add to this that it is very noisy on hwy and I dont think tires are to blame.

i test drove the mazda today and you are right, i like it much better.
the display is stupid in my opinion (much much better in the civic). what is the point of having the speedometer go up to 220 km/hr when the car will never reach that speed?
i wouldn't mind but the most used speed is 50 km/hr and that is where i'm used to seeing the 0.
i took it on the highway and drove at 100 km/hr. the speedometer gauge was at 9 o'clock. that's just a silly arrangement.
we went back and forth on the price. they went down $960 (CAD) from their claimed MRSP and the manager claims that this is $500 above his cost (not sure i believe him). i checked online and the MSRP is $300 lower than what he claimed so i guess he only went down 660. we are going to try to squeeze out a little more.
