First Minor Problem - LX Sedan

Guys,

My first little annoying glitch has appeared on my car after breaking the 300 mile mark.

If I turns the wheels while car is stopped, go in reverse and turn the wheel (like pulling out of a spot very slowly), or make a u-turn I get a minor CLUNK from the front end.

I will check the tire lugs as sometimes loose lugs can cause this. I also thought it might be hub cap as well. All tire pressures are dead on.

I wonder if this goes along with my pulling to the right problem on flat roads (alignment if you ask me). The pulling is not bad, more like a slight vearing to the right when letting off the stearing wheel while cruising.

Anyone else have this slight clunk or noise? It's not loud but with the radio off I can hear it?

I will give the car a few more 100 miles then bring it in for a quick look by the dealership.

sounds like motor mounts are too soft.. or your steering stops are hitting.. either way i wouldnt' worry.. tell the dealer about it.. they may have some sort of service bulletin on it already.. but little things like this are bound to happen w/ a first year release car... that's why i will never buy a car the first year it comes out or goes through a significant change..

At this point I am not worrying as it's kinda minor and I will monitor it for a few more hundred miles before I go to the dealer.

Oh, it only happens when the car has been left for a few hours without driving. If the car is warm, it does not make the noise at all. If the car is cold, it will make it only until I drive a little bit.

Will keep an eye on it.

Thanks.

Well, my car is at the dealer for this and the alignment issue. Let's see what happens.

NYARTIST: very interesting and it figures, we all know dealer service shops do sneaky and underhanded things. Let's see if this also holds with this situation.

Oh, what the bulletin describes is exactly what happens with my car, unreal.

Update

Guys,

Got the car back today. They dealer stated front alignment and toe was off on both front tires. Not a great sign but it happens I guess.

The clunking noise while cold and turning, they could not reproduce, typical but if it gets worse I will go back. They said it was the brake release, BS if you ask me but I will just keep my EAR on it and see if it worsens.

At least they gave me a sheet showing what was off on the front end in terms of toe, camber, etc etc.

I did not get to test their work yet but will tomorrow.

Other than these two small things, I am very happy with my civic

You need a dog, kero!
But then, that's one reason I still keep my '89 Corsica LTZ - Lady (yellow lab jogging buddy) rides with me for errands on weekends - she doesn't ride in my Civic.

I had this cold frame clunk which went away with temperature rise. In my case new struts were installed too tightly. The entire front end was loosened and retightened. The working procedures on the new Civics are different and it throws technicians off. They took care of it though.

I still have that noise and many others since I made this post. I am not going near a dealership for about 8 months so by that time, they know how to fix all these problems.
