Blue Padding (fiberglass) behind gas pedal exposed

Please see pic.

I noticed that there is blue padding behind the gas pedal. Concerned it might be fiberglass and should be sealed?

Not likely fiberglass. Some sort of plastic, wool or blend.

Spun recycled paper product with a fire retardant added. It's very light. Doubt if it sheds...

Is it normal for it to be exposed like this?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

It's the firewall pad, insulation and sound deadener.

Normal to see it if your head is on the floor LOL
You don't see it while sitting up in the seat.
