Rep Power: 0 2006 Honda Civic Purchase
Hi everyone, I've never bought a Honda Civic before but I need a good car that gets decent mileage. I work on diesel trucks for a part time job so I know a lot about trucks and most other rear wheel drive American cars. I'm more of a truck person myself but can't beat Hondas reliability and no truck comes close to 36 mpg. I've found a 2006 red Honda Civic that looks to be in good shape for $8600 at a private dealer with 93K miles. My only concern is that it does have a little rust on the underside right on the rear control arms right under the springs where it looks like a joint, it's from Washington DC according to car fax. Tow hook in he front has a little surface rust too. No body rust whatsoever or paint problems. I can't seem to figure out how to post a picture but I do have a coulple I took. What do most civics from 2006 look like underneath rust wise? Do these engines have a timing chain or belt in them?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Welcome!
Chain.
Rust varies greatly with care, climate, and salt. I'm in the rust belt, some of the cars don't look very pretty here but others still do.

Thank you, I've also found an identical 08 one that's much cleaner underneath and less miles for not much more money. Hope one of these works out.
