Rep Power: 0 Changing 2008 Civic LX Spark Plugs
Just wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for changing the spark plugs on my '08 Civic LX Sedan.
Car has 81K on it and I was considering doing a little preventative maintenance while I have the time. I know the plugs go 100K before the manual says to change them.
The plugs look like they are easily accessible. Is there anything I need to know before taking on this task? Do the new plugs come pre gapped? What size (MM) socket? NGK? Thanks in advance.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

The precious metal plugs wear so little, I think they could outlast the engine as long as they don't get fouled from anything unusual.
If you want to change them.....
DENSO- SKJ20DR-M11S
or NGK- IZFR6K-11S.
They are pre-gapped at 1.1mm spec (that's the 11 at the end of the part number). As long as nobody dropped the boxes on the floor they should be fine as received.
Uses a regular 5/8 plug socket.
Don't snap off any of the coil hold-downs, for some reason this seems to be a problem for some people.

if they are the original Honda S/Plugs and Your close to 100.000km"s
then Yes its time to change them. good reason as to why ? they should be
changed out at 100,000kms because You don't want to damage a coil or possibly all coils, that are attached on the S/wires or worse an expensive catalytic converter, secondly with modern engines you will never
no when the spark plugs are actually worn out there are no signs because the computer compensates for wear on them wich in a sense is good for the starting of the engine but on the other hand bad if there well overdue
for a change before you unscrew any spark plug it would
be a good idea to spray a small amount of BP blaster Penetrating oil
down in the spark plug hole and letting it sit for a few minutes before
unscrewing it with using a 5/8 socket wrench I recommend
using a Honda spark plugs that are pre-gaped
