Rep Power: 0 Check Fuel Cap flashing message
Just today I noticed the " Check Fuel Cap" message flashing. I got gasoline a few days ago and didn't notice the message flashing since. If you toggle the reset button the message goes away but, when you cycle around to that selection the message is still flashing. I pulled over today, unscrewed the cap and screwed it back on making sure I heard at least 3 clicks.
Is there a time frame or procedure the car must go through to " reset" itself?
The cap was not loose when I pulled over and checked it BTW. Thanks

The light goes on when a evaporative system leak is detected which could just be your gas cap wasn't tight enough. my owners manual says 7 days of normal driving.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

A drive cycle "in which the self test runs", could take anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks (or more) before conditions are right for the computer to run the test. Depends on weather and car conditions, and how you drive.
If it runs its self test and passes, the warning disappears.
If it runs and fails the self test a couple times, the warning disappears and the CEL will come on....and you'll know it's probably more than just a loose cap.
You might be able to disconnect the battery and get the warning to reset itself.

It turned out to be the gas cap. Clicked it a few times, drove the car for a bit and the message went away. Thanks ezone and Mikeyyy!
