2014 EX Bike Rack Suggestions?

Hello everyone!
My wife and I recently decided to start bike riding as a hobby and way of staying in shape. Running is obnoxious to her, so biking is the next best thing.

We are heading to the beach in a few weeks and would like to bring our bikes with us. I found out (the hard way, in the store parking lot) that the bikes WILL fit in the back seat, if I remove the tires...problem is, the back tire of my wife's bike is impossible to remove. I dunno if they put thread lock on it, or just bent the bolt by over-torquing, but it will NOT come off.

Plus, it's probably gonna be easier to get a bike rack anyways :P

So, do any of you guys have any suggestions? I have a 4 door 2014 EX. Our bikes aren't top of the line scientific tested carbon fiber, so they do weigh a decent amount, so the rack needs to be really sturdy. I'd also like to avoid making any alterations to my vehicle(but if necessary, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?)

Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions!

I don't have any experience with this but I am thinking that the best option would be the kind that hook up to a trailer hitch. This would be the best as far as being able to hold a lot of weight. The ones on top of the roof look cool but then the bikes are a little more difficult to get to but then you can get into your truck easier.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I definitely am looking for one that goes on the backend.
Obviously my civic doesn't have a trailer hitch...I know on previous models you can get a thing that converts the tow hook into a hitch...
But I don't know how safe it will be...
I'll do some research.

There are bike trunk mount carriers that use straps. Check out the allen sports.
