Can someone tell me if I need to worry about any fluid/lubricant replacement besides those addressed in my owner's manual. I went from a '99 Towncar to a 2008 Honda Civic. What about transmission, power steering, differential, chasis, etc.

I assume the answer is that all the points of lubrication that are not covered in the manual are lubricated with a permanant lifetime product and or are permanantly sealed. Being as how I am ****, however, I had to make sure.

I recommend Auto Trans fluid change every 30k or even more frequently. Simple drain and fill, only holds about 2.75 quarts each time.

No diff, part of trans.
No chassis, all sealed.

P/S fluid if you want, but we have so little issues with them we don't ever do it at work unless it comes apart for some reason. Either pop a hose off to drain the reservoir or suck the fluid out and refill the reservoir a couple times.

Coolant at something like 5 years or 100k, check your manual for services based on time instead of miles.
Brake fluid every 3 years.
Plugs at 100k


Read the owners manual about the "maintenance minder" system.

Use the proper spec oil, and you can follow the maintenance minder on oil changes. The minder can allow anywhere from (I have seen) 4k to about 12k depending on how you drive...All good as long as you check the oil level once in a while and keep it full.

If you use wrong spec oil then all bets are off.

Saw my 1st "3" on my 2010s MM system today... just shy of 65k miles. (the fluid was changed already with DW1 at 25 & 50 k)

Have always wondered when it would come up.

I like being able to view the upcoming numbers and letters.
