Rep Power: 0 How to open the bolt on transmission to change the oil?
Hi Everyone,
In Dec 2010, I change my transmission oil and went through elaborate detailing on this board:
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...l?ref=esp-link
Now, I want to change it again. Unfortunately, I am not able to open the bolt so easily this time. Last time someone mentioned that the washer was really bent but that was manufacturer tightening. So, I am hoping I haven't over tightened it.
I am wondering if the bolt has melted with the washer and now they are one
I applied WD-40 three times last night to get rid of rust and then drove the car this morning and now I am back home putting this on jack again and it's still not coming off. I turn the ratchet counter clock wise to open – I guess that is right?! I have just applied WD-40 again and hoping it opens up in another 30 minutes. The bottom is a bit hot from driving today and I don't see much rust there. I used a tool to hammer the ratchet but that didn't help either
Any suggestions?
Car is now at 105,000km

Thanks

PB Blaster > WD40 (for Water Displacement, not lubricant) Try a cheater bar/longer wrench. Not sure what an auto looks like, but it works for my manual.

Thanks, maxtierney. That worked like a charm. One push and it was done. I can't believe I slept on it for 24 hours and 2 tries.
And thanks for the tip WD-40 as well.
