Bought the first 2012 EX Coupe!

Hi guys,

I am so stoked!
I have not had a new car in 30 years.
After selling Hondas for a year I figured it was time.

I was thinking about a new '12 civic sedan but I'm a 50 yr old kid with a 40 year old GF and no kids! Don't really need a sedan.

When our first 2012 Coupe showed up at our dealership(Lompoc Honda, Lompoc, CA ) last week it was love at first sight!

What a great little car. 360 watt factory stereo, bluetooth, new "heads-up" I-MID screen, 4 wheel disc brakes, etc, etc.

Got 35 MPG on my first road trip.

Here are some pics of the new 2012 coupe.

We have another one coming any day. Let me know if you want it.

The fact that they only get 35mpg really bothers me, fuel efficiency should be going up not down and that's all that's been happening with Honda for years.

The new Camaro gets 40mpg and has over 300hp, the new civic gets 35mpg.. whats up with that?

35 was with his first road trip, probably fresh off the lot.

I got ~33 my first tank, 35 and 36 my next two. I drive about 60/40 city/highway, so not bad considering city mpg estimate was like 28 I believe.

And if you honestly believe a 4,000 lb V6 camaro is capable of 40 mpg....

The best 4 cylinders on the market struggle to reach the 40 mpg mark, and they're in sub-compacts like civics.

Quoting Chevrolet.com:
"Outstanding Performance and Efficiency
The 2011 Camaro has a powerful V6 capable of 312 horsepower, yet it still offers an impressive 29 MPG highway(6) with an available six-speed automatic transmission. For even more under the hood, move up to the SS and its 6.2L V8 engine. Even with its standard 426 horsepower, it offers 24 MPG highway(6). The available automatic transmission version of SS features Active Fuel Management and offers 25 MPG highway(6) while delivering 400 horsepower."

To the OP: Grats on the purchase, personally would've gone for the 5 speed, but they don't put those in the EX anymore

lol sorry I'm tired and just thought this was silly.

I think he meant 30MPG. Easy typo. Either way. The fact that a car that size is only a few MPG away from a much smaller car is still impressive nonetheless. To the OP, congrats on your purchase. May it bring you many miles of enjoyment. You've owed it to yourself.

Even then. The camaro isn't that much bigger inside than a civic. Yes it gets more power, but the impressive highway mpg is achieved the same way GM has always done so. With a much longer 6th gear. Its usually capable of having the car running ~1500rpms @70mph. Don't expect the city mpg numbers to be more than 19-20 realistically. I've never been able to get great fuel economy out of a GM V6, but that was with the old haas 4.3 V6 beast. However my moms Saturn Outlook 3.6 V6 struggles to get better than 14 also.

And its not really just a few mpg off the civic. The 9th gen is capable of 39+mpg on all highway travel, so long as u keep it between 60-70. I've noticed 75+ drastically cuts down mpg. Which can be said for nearly any vehicle.
