Re: 2012 Civic lauched specs are up in their website
I'm impressed with the the 31 more torques that the engine has and it makes them at 4400 revs. I'm not impressed with the 201 HP at redline. 8th gen Si made their peak power a few hundred revs before the redline. I'm also not impressed with the gas pedal, it was floor mounted in the 8th gen Si. Other than that, I think it's alright. I'd still get a WRX for the same amount of money though.

Re: 2012 Civic lauched specs are up in their website
Just saw a first drive video of the Si coupe. You can't put an aftermarket exhaust header on it because the stock manifold goes right into the cylinder head. I'm not sure on what that means, but the the guy who was doing the video said that. I'm sticking with my 8th gen si.

i like the inside of the car, specially the dash with vtec light that was carry over from the jdm civic type r, they lost the heritage of what a high performance honda sport should be,
high rev 8k rpm redline, with this one you only getting up to 7 and vtec engaged at 5500 rpm, that only gives you 2500 rpm of fun then shift. i wan't to see the car in person with honda full HFP kit then i make my final judgment. I gues i will be keeping my 6th gen si and wait for toyota rwd sport compact that will be coming out soon

I dont know if im feeling it either. I'm going to have to see one in person. To me the back end looks like the Accord Coupe sorta. However, im feeling the interior though. Nice and spiffy!

Today i went to several alignment shops to find a place to align the car. Bummer, these "need an appointment" stuff in Canada is kind of annoying...
Ended up in Honda dealer, hope they will do a good job... (wishful thinking...).
Anyway, there was one 2012 there.
No wonders, i looked around the car, some details different, but first chance i got, i looked under the car... (who would have tought i would do that? )F/R configuration seems to be similar to 8th gen, but could not hang in there too long, too many guys in there after the launch...
There was a plastic cover underneath the chassis, too (same as the hybrid?)
And some odd metal reinforcement? or just to hold the plastic cover? attached to the rear sub-frame? WTF?

Re: 2012 Civic lauched specs are up in their website
The new Si uses the I-vtec engine just like the old one. So vtec should kick in as soon that you stomp on the pedal and not at a set rpm like older models do.
I build these civics everyday and I can say that honda is trying to keep up with hyundai who seems to buy their customers with gadgets. Honda seems to have cheaped out on this gen to keep up with hyundai. It is still a very good car and you get what you pay for and I still believe that the new model is still the better "Affordable" car on the market but its not like previous gen's. 8th Gen civic was better built imo.

Re: 2012 Civic lauched specs are up in their website
I own an 8th gen Si. I smile every time I hear it go into VTEC at 6000 revs. This 9th gen Si has a light to tell you when you hit VTEC. Why? That is because you can no longer hear VTEC kick in. I frown when that happens.
