Rep Power: 0 2009 Civic Sport Sedan : Fuel Economy, Starting Issues
I recently purchased an 09' civic sport sedan. When i purchased the vehicle, I noticed that I was getting significantly more kilometers out of a tank than I am now. Right now the best I am getting is about 7 litres / 100 km. The vehicle is supposed to get 5.7l/100km on the highway and I am not seeing that even though most of my driving is on the highway. I do not drive excessively fast or aggressively and have performed all of the scheduled maintenance. The vehicle has less than 18000km on it. The dealer said that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and it needs to break in. I don't understand why the vehicle was getting the best fuel economy when it was brand new when the manual says that fuel economy should get better as the car breaks in.
My other issue is occasional hesitation when attempting to start the car. Sometimes - usually when the car has been sitting overnight or for a few hours - i will go to start it and the starter sputters and takes a while to start the vehicle. It is only occasionally but causes concern due to the fact that the car is so new. It makes me think there is something wrong with the starter. I told the dealer and they said that they couldn't find any problems but charged the battery, which didn't change anything. They said that i need to be able to duplicate the problem for them in order for them to be able to diagnose and fix it, which is nearly impossible because there is no rhyme or reason the when it happens.
Any ideas???
