New to civic just got one!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that I just got a 2007 civic. It is an LX power everything (moon-roof XM radio blah blah blah). My question is I got it for gas mileage and family orientedness (starting a family soon and I needed to be "responsible"). Is this good in the winter with a good set of winter tires? I never took this into account and i live in wisconsin. I pick up the car this Saturday.

Also what kinda mods could i do to beef up the torque a little bit? I don't want to spend a sh*t ton of money, maybe a grand or 2. I don't want to lose the reliability and maybe the warranty? Thanks a lot and I am now a proud civic owner!

Congrats on the new car. I had the same worry about my '09 in the New England winters, and it did pretty well with just the stock tires. With a set of snow tires, you should be okay.

Can't help you on the mods.

Re: New to civic just got one!

I hated the Turanazas that came with the car.
I am not sure if your 2007 has the original tires which may give 40,000 miles, but I would look to change for a good all season that works better in the rain and light snow.

Don't skimp on tires, they help stop the car, and tracction in the rain and snow. That is well worth any minor mods in my book.

The 1.8 is low on torque, and not much is available to increase, at least not in bolt ons.
Cold air intake and cat back plus some new programmers are available, but will not increase much for the money put into them.

I also am a proud owner of my first Honda. I bought a used 07 Civic Coupe EX. I'm from New England so hopefully the winters are good to me too. Probably gonna do a K&N intake and custom exhaust for that extra kick.

Re: New to civic just got one!

Well, It has been a REALLY long time since this first post. I bought that civic with 29k miles. It now has 140k (I live far from work). Went through 4 sets of tires and realized that I had the bad rear upper control arms. I replaced them and runs like a top. Tried to do the lawsuit and they stated that my car was too old and had too many miles and wouldn't compensate me on the new tires. Still bone stock except a K and N air filter.

A little late on the post but it is definitely an EX not an LX. (3.5 years late). haha.
